New president for Oceanic Cable
Pacific Business News (Honolulu)
Nate Smith, a former Time Warner executive and more recently the CEO of New Zealand's Sky Network Television, is the new president of Oceanic Cable, and Don Carroll moves up to chairman before retiring at year's end.
Don Carroll has been with Oceanic Cable since the 1960s when fewer than a dozen people worked for the company. Today it employs hundreds and is regarded as one of the leaders of the cable industry.
Oceanic was the first cable system to adopt the technology that permits movies on demand and was among the first with other interactive methodologies.
